07/22/2010 Dallas-based Interior Resources has joined the GoodWeave certification program, which works to end illegal child labor in the carpet industry and to offer educational opportunities to children in South Asia.  More>

07/09/2010 GoodWeave USA has just launched its ninth annual rug raffle, offering entrants, for as little as $25, the chance to win a luxurious handmade rug, designed and donated by Sydney, Australia-based Cadrys Handmade Rug Specialists and certified child-labor-free by GoodWeave. 100% of proceeds support GoodWeave’s work to end illegal child labor in the carpet industry and to offer educational opportunities to children in South Asia.  More>

06/18/2010 Washington, DC - The Emancipation Network (TEN) has joined GoodWeave’s child-labor-free rug certification. TEN, a nonprofit based in St. Augustine, Florida, works with 18 anti-trafficking shelters in nine countries to help survivors of slavery by supporting their business development and marketing their crafts.  TEN’s new line of hand knotted Tibetan rugs are designed and woven by young women at a shelter home in Kathmandu.  More>

GoodWeave Among NGOs Featured in "Invisible: Slavery Today"

GoodWeave, along with other NGOs, will be featured in the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center's exhibit, “Invisible: Slavery Today”."

Faces of Freedom Showcased at the Michael Forsberg Gallery
October 4, 2010, Lincoln, Neb.

Faces of Freedom will be on display at the Michael Forsberg Gallery in Lincoln, Nebraska. The exhibit coincides with the Textile Society of America Conference, held Oct. 6 – 9, and the Second Annual Interdisciplinary Conference on Human Trafficking, held Sept. 30-Oct. 2.

New Standard Public Consultation Now Underway
June 30, 2010,

GoodWeave is developing a new certification standard to address the issue of child labor in carpet weaving communities more holistically. The new standard, which includes new criteria such as those relating to wages and working conditions, was revised following the first round of public consultation, during which over 300 individual comments were received. GoodWeave is now holding a second round of public consultation. To view the revised draft and comment online, please visit www.goodweave.net/consultation.
