Spotlight On: Lizz Greer
Palo Alto, California
Lizz Greer's artisan rugs are much more than elegant home furnishings—they are unique works of art for the most discriminating homeowners and private collectors. Designed exclusively by Lizz, each artisan rug is an investment in beauty and sophistication, as well as social responsibility. Every Lizz Greer creation carries the GoodWeave label to assure the purchaser that children were not exploited.
An artistic passion honed during more than 20 years of artistic study and experience enables Lizz to create unique artisan rugs. Her rug illustrations, considered "art for the floor," appeal to a wide range of tastes, from experienced art collectors to discriminating homeowners who value thoughtful and reflective environments, and those looking to add beauty and color to their home.
Designed for the floor, rugs provide an opportunity to explore art from new perspectives. Lizz knew that her task required considerably more than simply designing illustrations based on patterns or geometry, so she embarked on an intimate journey of drawing from her personal experiences and world travels. She infuses her rugs with colors and textures that evoke a wide range of images and feelings, significantly influencing the tone and mood of a home.
Every Lizz Greer rug is completely handmade and certified by GoodWeave. Special care goes to color matching as skeins are dyed in batches according to the amount needed for each rug. At the looms, the hand knotting and weaving are done row by row, by master Tibetan craftspeople in Nepal, using centuries-old techniques.
